The Lodge runs various Masonic Learning activities such as:
Lodge of Instruction
Lodge of Instruction is a social/learning activity held most weeks between late July/early August and mid-April in a Lodge room at the Masonic Centre in Radlett, Hertfordshire, in which members and especially our newer ones get to know our Lodge Officers and other Members in a friendly informal atmosphere.
The main purpose is to provide Masonic learning in general, and to learn, perform and rehearse roles in our ceremonies - a fun form of Amateur Dramatics, under the instruction of our very experienced Director and Assistant Director of Ceremonies. It also provides excellent rehearsal experiences for those subsequently performing in our Degree and Installation ceremonies held in the much larger rooms and Temples in the heart of Freemasons’ Hall where we hold our Regular Lodge meetings.
We perform what is known as Logic Ritual, one of the five most common versions of Masonic Ritual performed in ceremonies by Lodges across London. In addition to attending meetings of their own Lodge, Freemasons can also be guests at Lodge meetings in other locations and even across the World, which enables them to expand their Masonic network and see Lodges perform the same or other forms of Ritual in their ceremonies.
Attendance at Lodge of Instruction is strongly encouraged to provide regular opportunities for advancement in Masonic learning, building friendships and helping members to confidently learn, practice and perform in our meetings and ceremonies to a high standard.
LOI Dinner
An LOI Dinner is connected to the Lodge of Instruction — the place where we meet to practise ritual, develop our understanding of Masonic principles, and support each other in learning and personal improvement.
The dinner provides a relaxed, informal setting where members can socialise, discuss the work of recent LOIs, and enjoy the camaraderie that sits at the heart of the Lodge.
While less formal than major Lodge dinners, an LOI Dinner is an important part of Lodge life. It strengthens teamwork, encourages newer members, and helps maintain the sense of unity and shared purpose that defines Freemasonry.
An LOI dinner is usually held just before the new Master of the Lodge is Installed in our March meeting, giving him the opportunity to showcase his leadership and presentation skills and give thanks.
